For 23 years, Becco has been such a solid part of the Melbourne restaurant scene that it’s easy to take this classic Italian for granted.
I remember many beautiful dinners there in the early years but I hadn’t visited in a decade.
We recently took my daughter there for her 21st birthday dinner and what has not changed is the air of confidence that is ingrained here.
From the stroll down one of Melbourne’s classic laneways to the chic decor, the seasoned staff, the menu of polished Italian favourites, the passionate Roman chefs in the kitchen, the savvy wine list…this combination of feeling like you are in good hands from start to finish is the hallmark of the best restaurants.
Pop a few of their moreish Olives Ascolana – plump green olives stuffed with veal farce, crumbed and fried…
Tuck into shavings of elegant carpaccio…
Twirl into a classy spaghetti vongole…
Get that deliciously tender, tasty veal saltimbocca into your mouth…
Whatever you choose, rest assured it will be the best, and you will feel like you are back in Rome but in a very Melbourne way!
Enjoy,
