Honey Syrup Oranges with Cinnamon Walnuts

A quick sunny dessert with the warm spice of cinnamon and cloves.

Serves: 2
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 5 minutes
Ingredients
  • 2 oranges
  • 1/4 cup walnut pieces
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick or 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 cloves
  • few sprigs rosemary, optional
  • cinnamon, for sprinkling
  • vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, for serving
Method

Using a sharp knife, remove the skin and pith from the oranges and cut the flesh into slices. Dry fry walnuts in a saucepan for a few minutes until toasted. Remove and chop. Combine honey, cinnamon stick, cloves and rosemary in saucepan and heat. Add orange slices and heat for 2 minutes. Allow to cool in a serving bowl. Sprinkle with walnuts and cinnamon and serve with vanilla ice cream.

Tips

Oranges can be made and refrigerated up to 24 hours in advance.
