Oh how I love these lazy days of Summer when we can take advantage of the sunshine to gather and share happy times together. Summer feasting is such a relaxed way to share your table.
Here I am putting the final touches to my Chargrilled Quail with Freekeh and Pomegranate Salad that was my contribution to our al fresco lunch at a friend’s farm recently. My friend also made a delicious corned beef girello with mustard mayonnaise, with his home-grown beef, and I just decorated it for the table for him.
Here are my tips for styling food to share:
- use a large platter or board as food always looks more impressive and generous
- layer the food rather than tossing it, for salads especially
- think about what you will drizzle it with – a sauce or dressing? balsamic glaze? thinned down mayonnaise? or just extra virgin olive oil?
- and finally, what will you sprinkle on top? herbs? nuts? salad leaves/rocket? spices? or just some freshly ground pepper?
- P.S. drop those sprinkles from a height and they will style themselves!
